I was wondering if anyone that is using the xle 4040 membrane had to get a new canister built. I looked at a new membrane today and they told me that the 4040 is to big it won't fit in my canister? They don't know why but the 4" 4040 is alittle bigger than the standard membrane but, the 8" 4040 is the same as any other 8" membrane. I don't understand:cool:

They fit my old canisters. I did need some newly sized membrane adapters, but Joe from Atlantic had them in stock.

thats interesting I will have to look into that alittle more. The membrane was from filmtec. Maybe I can give them a call or e-mail.

I replaced my PVD-1 membranes with XLE-4040s with no mods whatsoever

Brent, Are you impressed with the xle 4040 membrane? I am not sure what type I want to purchase. Mine is 10 years old and is running about 30% less than a new membrane.

after only 4 sessions with them I'm quite pleased. The surprising thing is that there has been no change in performance, that I documented, from the first session.
1.8 GPH of permeate at 295 PSI and concentrate just below or above 8% as I please. The perm flow does not seem to change if I pinch the concentrate to get 8.8 or 8.9 or open it to get 6%. I have about 10 hours on them. I know the old PVDs would be messed up by now. I don't know when the flow will start to drop off. When it does, I'll do my first wash. We're just coming out of several days of freeze up here so I'll be firing them up tomorrow. The season has only just begun up here.
