well cp my unit doesn't count but in Randy's 4x14 maplwrks had us go about
1" or a little more. I have noticed when Randy draws it exposes the top of the flues (good or bad) it does. Randy started out at 2 to 2.5" in his syrup pan I believe he has lowered it since as he is getting use to the new rig.
hope this helps

I am about an inch and a half and the syrup batches are 8 gallons a draw off instead of 14 gallons when i was running a little over 2 inches, and the syrup is getting lighter that way. After tonights boil i am just under 600 gallons. I am going to run out of barrells.

We run our sap at 1" above the flues in our 3.5x10 flue pan and once the float is set at the start of the day you never have to adjust it. Any lower than that and I'd be worried but at 1" I set it and forget it!

1/4" works best for me. Yea its scary at time but it keeps things steamy:)

I'm w/ you Haynes on this one. I run about 1/2" in the flue pan. However, I am not boiling concentrate but raw sap.

I agree.

When I had a raise flue welded stainless flue pan, I even had a dry spot on a flue on occasion. I wouldnt do that with a soldered pan though.

That is scary! If the level drops below 0.75" I get a bit worried, less than that and my hand is pushing down on the float!

I go about 3/4", set and leave it. Run all day, no adjustment.
