This year I went to the smaller clear plastic spile that come straight out of the tree. No 90 degree bend on them.

I made up the drops at home and when I went to the woods I realized i couldn't tap them in with a hammer as the line came right off the end of the tap. I shoved them in by hand as hard as I could.
Yesterday during a big run I checked all the taps and almost all of them were leaking air into the line. alot of them I could twist in a bit tighter... but some I had no choice but to cut off the line, hammmer the tap in and then reconnect the line.

Question is... for how is everyone else installing these? Sounds like most people make up the drops at home some should have the same issue.

You have to hammer the tap in first then put on the dropline, there made to take off every season and they go on by hand with little diffuculty, i have both in my sugar bush this year the cdl and the straight ones, i like the cdl because there cheaper and they have a spot to hammer them on. Hope this helps.

thanks, I was guessing I should have figured that out before I pre-made the drop lines.... another project to squeeze in between runs now to cut them all off and tap them in.

you shouldn't have to cut them off they should slide off with a little side to side twisting.
