How large (CFM) a blower would be recommended for a 2x5 arch? This would just attach to the ash cleanout door opening and blow in and up thru the grate. Tried a hair dryer just for a test and it really helped.

200 CFM would work fine.

Fishman, just hooked a 200 cfm that I found at a recycle store up to my 2x6 and ran it Friday. You won't believe the difference. Increased evap rate by 30-40% and didn't use much more wood, if any. Best $40 I've spent.
