After helping Randy for a few nights and playing with the blowers, I have ripped mine apart and made a AOF system. Should have it cobbed together by tomorrow night in case sap runs. Will take pics of process. Its goes right along with my tank on top of my jeep

Wait a minute here flatlander. You hicked that tank all for nothing now your putting it on top of the jeep like I told you too. LOL I have been fighting my boiling rate all week and stole the blower of the wood stove and rigged it up on the evaporator. Made alot of difference and if I dont buy a 3x8 this summer Im adding AAOTP to mine for 2012. Ahh you ask what is AAOTP well its a hick thing that stands for air all over the place.

Now thats almost AAOTP right there. You just need some nozzles on the bottom a few up the sides some in the ash pit and hell while your at it put a few in that tank on top of the jeep. lol The only thing that raises concern with your aof is the blocking of the flues. What size pipe is that?

Looks good, but you will probably need to insulate those pipes as they won't last long is my experience in the direct fire.

I had to put it back together for todays run, my shop doesn't really have any fire blanket stuff. Thiking about using the white pan gasket material, it seems to hold up pretty good. I'm also going to add another old oil gun so I will be up to three. Going to use one for under air and 2 for over.

ok here's pics from virgin AOF burn. I think for what I have it did ok, deff. air tight front and higher pressure blowers would do better, already working on it for next year. No planning stages for me ADK1 "getr done"

The other night when I added second blower I had stack temps of 1000+ deg had to turn air down. Last night when I added 3rd blower I was reaching high 900's and once over 1000. It seems to be running cooler stack temp not by much but cooler. I had different spots on my front that have never glowed before hehe. more pics below

ohh I did have some blue/purple flames at times also. One big problem with my hick design it blocks the flames from the draw off section of syrup pan. Going to lower it a few inches.

Flatlander,
Nice shots of the fire. AOF systems are the rage this year. Yea it roars! I just lost more of my hearing from running one! Its a new animal to learn to boil on. Took all season to get the hang of not cramming the wood in. just need three good arm loads shut the doors and come back in about 12-15 min to refire. Made almost twice the syrup on the same wood pile using the AOFTRS [air over fire top rail system] and the WRU.
Nce job on the quickiee AOF with black pipe. Hope it holds up! looks rugged! Keep the air poured to her!
Regards,
Chris
