Diesel fuel and home heating oil#2 are same they put dye in home heating oil so people don't use it on the road. Diesel fuel has road taxes on it, that is why it is more money. I use both in my evaporator.

They aren't the same anymore. Fuel oil is what diesel used to be before Ultra Low Sulfur diesel. Heck we're supposed to run Off road ULSD in the tractors now. Which stinks cause its way more than fuel oil.

I guess my evaporator is running with cleaner fuel this week. I am not planning on changing anything we are making some good tasting syrup this week.

I use both in my evaporater and don't see a differnence in the operation or running of the unit, oil is probally more efficient but definately more expensive but you can't beat it for start up and shutdown times
