Hi I was thinking about making a copper preheater and I plan on using silver solder but is there anything else i should do besides flux like some special solder or special flux thanks in advance.

clean well !!!,sand both parts - joints, (inside fitting /outside pipe) with emery cloth ,than put (just enought flux to cover both joints ,end of pipe/inside fitting ( to much will cause pipe rot) put togather ,wipe off excess flux, sweat togather, at hardware store get kit with silver soider, silver soider flux with brush, and sand paper/emery cloth (all for drinking water copper) NO LEAD also utube has alot of how to vids - here is one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmKM1UXLzt0 Hope this helps good luck !!! Ed has it, all I can add is have a acid brush for flux handy so you can drag solder if you need too. Remember solder flows to heat...
