After seeing everyone else's sap hauling rig I took a lot of your good ideas and made my own. This will work out much better than pulling a small trailer up into the woods. I will have to be careful on how full I fill it. It might get kinda heavy.

I cut a hole in the 55 gal barrel and inserted an ice cream pail in it. I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom of the pail and used a paper filter cone which seems to fit the ice cream pail just right. We'll try it out this week.

Thanks for all the good ideas!!

That's a lot of weight on the back of a quad-be extra careful going up any decent hills-you may end up looking at the tree tops rather than the trunks.

I would rig up something that extends over the front of your buggy and add some weight to it.

You would also shift the weight more forward if you could turn the tank cross ways and move it as far forward as you can and still sit on the seat....

I had a 35 gallon tank on the back of our Can-am 400 and when it has 25 gallons in it i can hardly get it to turn. To much weight...we put the tank in the garden trailer now and our little 160 can haul a full 35 gallons. I wouldnt even try a 55 gallon on the back....If you have a small trailer youll be much happier with the performance...if not just dont fill it too full. looks Impressive though.
