I Did It!

I turned it into maple syrup last night for the first time. Tastes incredible! Now I need more buckets and taps :).

yes there is...

step 1 find more trees to tap
step 2 buy more taps and possibly some tubing
step 3 get bigger holding tank...trash can is too small
step 4 start looking for more firewood
step 5 build a bigger arch...need to boil faster
step 6 start planning for new sugar shack for next year
step 7 confront wife about how much money this new hobby costs
step 8 start boiling every night until 1-2 am
step 9 confront wife for not spending any time with her
step 10 buy a bunch of bottles to put your new liquid gold in..
step 11 keep looking..there has to be at least one more tree to tap...
step 12 begin 12 steps again...it never ends.. especially steps 1,5,6, 7, 9, 11

You're spot on with those 12 steps.

We went through them all last year, with the exception of confronting the wife, she's as addicted as I am. I already feel compelled to go through the steps again already. I'll have to see if I can take care of 1 thru 6 over this summer so we're not running around at the last minute nxt year.

lmfao, leave it to you haynes to say something like that! Congrats wes, we started out small last year at 25 taps and now at 200. Made 6 gallons yesterday and today. It is addicting!
