I only got 5 maple trees in my yard, but just enough for our own use and keep the kids busy. Maybe I will expand a little next year over to the neighbors as when I get hooked on something, it seems to grow and grow.

I started last year with 3 trees, went to 7 this year plan on going to 20 next year. Got 70oz of syrup so far this year have to finish the boil on 10 gallons of sap. Next year hope for 200oz.

You got that right when you say it seems to grow and grow. I hope that it will always be fun and not seem like work. Good luck with your season and welcome to the Trader. I'm sure you'll agree that there's a lot of valuable info on here.

Welcome jake22si :)
This is definitely an addiction. 2 years ago we had never even thought about maple syruping. Last year we figured we'd give it a try with 10 taps. It was a load of fun, the syrup was delicious, and family really appreciated the syrup as Christmas gifts. This year we have 37 taps and way more sap to boil down. My son and I are already thinking about how to improve, and expand, things for next year.

I have found a wealth of information, help, and friendly people here on Maple Trader. Keep us up-to-date on how the season goes for you.
