I bought a 2" CDL moisture trap for my VAC setup. Obviously, it has both an inlet and an outlet port. One is on the top and runs verticle. The other is on the side (near the top) and runs horizontal. My question is how is it installed? Which port goes to the releaser side and/or which goes to the pump side? Or does it even matter?

Thanks!

top to the pump. the one on the side to the releaser. If you plumb it with the releaser pipe on top any moisture would get sucked in the vac pump pipe as it drips down.

Because many people make this error... Don't forget to install your vacuum regulator between the trap and pump.

bison1973, Another thing! Spend a couple of more dollars and get 2 PVC disconnects (the type that screw together) Put one on each line, not to far from the moisture trap. That way if you need to do maintenance to it you can remove the trap quickly(or cleaning) Also down the road a few years you could reuse it some were else just by unscrewing the disconnects. When installing the disconnects place a male end on one hole and a female on the other hole. Then if you ever do want to reuse the trap some were else, you only need to buy one more disconnect!JimL.
