couldnt you take the tank that the sap runs into and put it under a vacuum and have the sap run into that instead of having a releaser

Only if the tank is designed to hold vac.
A tank that will hold pressure will implode with very little vac.
But yes if you have a tank that is designed to hold vac it would work to collect sap withput a releaser. You would either shut the vac off or use a pump that can overcome the vac to suck the sap out of the tank

500592 Tell us more about the tank. First is it air tight? Will it hold enough sap unattended? How many taps are we talking?

I have two tanks that I have like that one is a Zero 400 gallon and I pump it out as needed. But my other one is a 300 gallon commercial built hot water tank that I put a float inside with a pump outside so that it automatically pumps the sap into my storage tank
Anyways be sure you have a vacuum rated tank so you don't implode

I'm planning something similar for next year. I intend to maintain the vacuum while automatically pumping off the sap and forcing it 900' to the barn.
I will be using a submersible deep well pump inside the 100 gallon removable head tank that is rated for 250 psi. The pump will have to overcome the vacuum, 20' lift, and 900 feet of 3/4" tube. I want to install the pump inside so that the pump seal is not subjected to alternating vacuum and pressure as would be the case with an external pump.
At this time, I am considering a food grade epoxy interior paint or sending it out for hot dip galvanizing. I think I may have enough 8 gauge wire to go the distance. I'll need it for the well pump, small vacuum pump for 70 taps, and heat trace wire.

would 55 gallon drum implode and the deep well pumps if sumersible then it is already food grade
