I prefer a straight claw hammer and not a curved claw hammer.
but i am sure there is something better

I like the slightly curved claw hammer, then I filed/ground the V open so the taps fit up in it, Works great.

I pull pretty much all my taps by hand. The ones I can't pull by hand are the ones my carpenter neighbor puts in using his framing hammer when I'm not looking.

I'm a firm believer that if you need a lever to remove a tap, you're setting them too deep.

I took a flat pry bar/Wonder bar and ground a slot in the middle of the hooked end. Use the taps your using as a guide. For about $6.00 you can make a great tap puller. I have used it on 5 differant types of taps and it works on all of them.

Go to hardware store and get a wonder bar. You know them 2 " flat bars for pulling nail. Grindout out the curved side so it fits your spouts. Only carry that for the tight ones or the ones you can't reach. Most all spouts we pull is just grab and twist. kinda funning talking about pulling them when we just started tapping yesterday.

I hope Park Falls doesn't get the 12" of snow that we are predicted to get on Wednesday. I went snowmobiling today and the trails are in great condition.
It doesn't look like Maple Syrup season is here yet!!!!

Maple Connection

Every big snow storm ALWAYS goes south. At least below HWY 29.

I had to go out and get some more spouts in the woods. I had only 100 at home so I got 200 more and I will dry them out tonight and probably get them out tomorrow.
