well we put 130 taps in on the 3rd going to do 220 this weekend I hope .
Its saturday 10:30 am still a bit cold out for me. Going out in a little while
maybe it will warm up a little.Then I got to go to a wedding at 4 ohhhhboy?
still waiting for my new evaporator, 2x6 drop flue by pat phanuef . I tracked
it down its in transit out of detroit. Be here monday cant wait im like a kid
at crismas !!!!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL& BE SAFE!!!!

Hi Pierre, It was nice meeting you yesterday. Hope the ceramic blanket works well for you. And your new evaporator gets there soon:) I finished tapping this morning. 600 total for the year. Set the storage tanks. and now we wait:( Hope you have a good season and I will let you now if I run accross any one local buying bulk. Happy sapping, Mike

I remmeber the feeling,lol. WHen I got my 3x12 and set it up. I couldnt wait to get sap in it.

finally got all last years tubing repaired and ready. now Im adding more

well i got it!!!!! it sure is pretty.been working on it non stop finally got it
insulated and fire bricked.hooked up to my sap supply. put up the stack,
pans are ready and waiting .thanks for the ceramic blanket mike. collected
90gal.on tuesday nothing today. put in 375 taps total now. can't wait to fire it up tomorrow for a test boil

soon as i can i'll get some pictures up.i've been going crazy figuring out all the
glitches .had to put two 10"round duct through the roof boxed in a temp hood to get the steam out. you"ll see when i get the pictures up .:)

It looks pretty good. I see Patrick has made a couple small changes on his rigs. Now get to work and boil some syrup.

well i boiled all i had on saturday from 9 -2:30 about 150gal got 2gal or so
to finish off.man this evaporator is nicehttp://mapletrader.com/community/images/smilies/lol.gif.this is alot more fun than it used to be
the old way.still working on some final touches.i just closed up for the night
we collected 100gal. today tomorrow is suppose to be 40 tonight 13 hope we

well i almost had a major catastrophe .i went back to collect sap left my dad in charge. things were going good evaporator running full tilt. a friend stopped by to fix my chainsaw. i heard him cutting wood then 5min. later he comes back were i was hollering get back to the shack fast dads out of sap i thought
he was bsing me but then i could tell it was for real. raced back fast as i could
looked at the tank and seen the line in it about 3ft up . then i said whats going on theirs sap in there .dad came out of the shack and no theirs not .http://mapletrader.com/community/images/smilies/surprised.gif i looked in the tank bone dry. what i was seeing was ice line it froze hard last night and
the outside of the sap froze on the sidewalls. luckily he put the bucket of sap on stand by in plus some water and nocked down the fire.didnt burn the pan

wow! that is crazy. so there was jsut a thin layer of ice that looked like the top of the sap? yikes! maybe you should institute the dip test from now on with an old wooden ruler or something!

yha or else just look in the tank. trust me i'll make sure theirs enough sap in
the tank before i start

well we made another 4gal. out of 155gal of sap. boiled every thing we had
with the weather the way it is its a good day to start cleaning out the pans
and cut more wood and get ready for it to run again i hope ? made a total
9.5 gal of light tasty syrup.not running good for me this year seams to be
