It's late but i wanted to get some pics up of my evaporator. It's built from scratch from allot of info gathered from mapletrader.com Thanks to all those that helped and sent pics for the AOF setup. As it sits with metal, blower and insulation i have around $700 into the arch. I'll take pics soon of the pans that I purchased from A&A metal work. I still need to buy some SS so i can put the skin on this but i'm gonna boil with it this year as it sits since money is tight and the season is close.
The last three pics show the mechanics of the AOF system I used 5" pipe with 5" air dampers. The adjustable rods slide in and out of the pipe welded to the damper since the length changes as you push and pull the lever at the front of the machine. I get no binding this way.

I modeled the door after the door that came on my outside wood furnace. I works simple and is easy to take off as you simply lift up on the door and the bottom pin has clearance to lift out.
The AOF syste, uses 3/8" nozzels with washers that have 1/4" holes welded to the end. I get a nice direct breeze from one side to the other.
I fastened the blanket on with 10/24 machine screws and fender washers.

Here the the flue end. I made the base stack plate but cutting a hole in a piece of 1/4" plate steal then bending/clamping/welding the 1/8" steel band to the inside. It was allot of work to do it this way and i think i would make a simple angle iron square base stack if i had to do it again.
This project took allot longer than i thought it would and i can now see justification in the prices charged for archs. I would however do it again and i'm sure as I grow I will need to build a bigger evaporator.
I have not figured out what i am doing for grates. I cast my own and they appear to have cracked in both directions allong the ice cream cone holes :-(. I am thinking i will just brick the bottom and allow the fire to blow up between the bricks.

Good job Jason.
I always get people saying that there shouldn't be nearly as much time in building one as what I say. I am not trying to down play your project as you did a great job, but you can add nearly twice as much time in to building a Intens-O-fire or other models when you air cool the front, add air to the door, and a third damper system.

Jason,
Nice job on the arch. Was thinking of A&A yesterday as I was fixing my old front pan.

802,
What would the third airflow damper be for and how do you cool the front and front door?

Nice looking rig... So what did you end up with for your boiling rate?
