Was going to tap today but cant find drill bit:(( i put it someplace so I wouldnt lose it:rolleyes:) can I use a reg 7/16 bit from hardware store?

That’s what I used the first couple of years (tapping a single tree).
It won’t clear the chips as well, but don’t blow in the hole to remove them. Use one of those ear washing bulbs to blow the chips out.
Your breath will contaminate the hole and the level of contamination is proportional to what you had for dinner last night.:lol: Kidding
Seriously though, don’t blow in the hole. It will give those nasty old hole closing microbes a head start.
