Can I cut down my 2x8 grim arch and only use the middle and front pan?

Why not put a piece of steel over the rear of the arch to cover up any space instead of cutting down a perfectly good arch so in the event you want to expand, you have the extra arch. By cutting it down you would hurt the resale value also.

yeah, do not cut the arch. Just put steel over it. and put pots on top the steel as a preheater. or just copper pipes. Cook eggs too.
