View Full Version : Time of year to run lines
What is the best time of the year to establish your lines. Should it be summer, fall or winter. just thinking about streatching the wire and tubing etc in the summer and then when it gets cold it shrinks ever so slightly. Jsut curiousl. I plan on using 12.5ga high tensile wire, a 500' 3/4" Leader 30P mainline. 30P laterals. I was going to leave tension on the mainline using a tensioner on one end.

Personally I wish I did it in the fall instead of the dead of winter. It is a little cooler and a great time to be in the woods, you dont have the black flies and mesquitos eating you alive in the summer and lets face it spring is too late cause it should of already been done.
yup, that is what I am thinking too

I always run mine in the summer while it is warm as it is much easier to work and stretch the tubing while it is warm instead of cold.

Thought you would agree, those dang black flies in the dacks are so bad they will pick your roll of tubing up and fly away with it.

THAT IS FOR SURE. WV, do you leave tension on it all year even in the winter. i thought it would shrink and cause some problems come winter.

I like fall the best but the guys woods I use doesnt want people in the woods close to hunting time. Sketters will eat you alive in summer. Those swamps near by make it nasty.

Summer and fall is great because the saddles clamp better on warm lines, and you don't chase as many leaks as when you clamp them in zero degree temps
Yup, fall is when I plan on running them. Probably early fall, before October
