There was a article in the local paper about severe tree/tubing damage in Vermont from heavy snow in October. Anybody have first-hand reports?

The maples made it here but some of the apple trees around here had not lost there leaves yet and took it hard. 20 miles north(Barton) they got 17 inches of snow and am not sure how they made out.
I had alot of wind damage to my maples. Lost one tree and alot of branchs off others. My question is what about the little ones that bowed over to the ground. Will they straighten up or do you cut them after awhile? I have about 25 of them still bent over. Can you stake them up? Will that work? My apple trees did take a beating also.
Thanks,
