View Full Version : Drop flue pan drain
I have seen pictures of drop flue pans with a drain at the bottom of the flues. It looks to be a tube running cross ways across the end of each flue and I would assume out the side of the arch. I was just wondering how they deal with the area where it comes through the side of the arch.

Drill a hole thru the arch and brick stick a piece of cooper pipe w/ a valve.

Hole is about 3 times as big as the pipe to give some variance and I have my hole stuffed full of ceramic blanket to keep out from blowing out of it with forced air.

Make sure the hole is big enough that the pan is not held up by the pipe. You want the pan to be relaxed without stress. As the pans jump around during the boil you want then to expand and contract without stressing the pipe.
