A week or so ago I was asking what to do about the frozen sap, boy sure wish I had some now. The weather around here has jumped to 60 degrees and the sap has shut down. I had about 50 gallons in a tank at the end of a line that needed to boil so I went down yesterday to pump it out. I hooked up the transfer pump and started pumping into the tank on the truck. I looked up and there went a bunch of brown sap into the tank. I poped the top off the tank and took a big whiff of it, boy was it bad. I had not thought about the sap that had been left in the pump and transfer hoses for the last couple of days on the back of my truck in the sun. It had went bad. So today I went around and drained all the tanks and lines and flushed them with fresh water. I hope the weather drops off and we have another decent run. From now on I will pay more attention to the punp.

Sorry to hear it. Up here we worry about the opposite - sap freezing in the pump and breaking the pump housing.
