I just bought a 2x8 leader dropped flue. used it for the first time.the blower blows ashes out the door, so I tried rope gasket and the door won't shut all the way.then I tried athin flat gasket still had to prop something against it.
That didn't last long before it fell off. What should I do? Why don't the doors
have latches on them?

Our evap. dosn't have any gaskets on the doors either. Just metal to metal. You might want to damper down the air and/or get more draw by adding more stack height? Just a thought.

Never seen a standard arch that has latches on them as they were designed to be used with natural draft and ash around the door isn't a problem with natural draft. Probably need to damper or cut the blower back with the rehostat to the point the ash is minimal. Still work work better than natural draft and before next year you could build a better door or build or buy an airtight front.

You need more stack or a larger diameter stack. Basically a stack of the right diameter should be 2 x the length of the evaporator, sometimes you need 3x. Do you have 16' of stack?

I 2nd maple flats and add make sure that the passage for the flames(and flue gases) are not restricted as that will stop the draft as well.
