I was having a discussion with my kids, and they wanted to know what was the biggest evaporator ever built, and what is the biggest one in common usage today. Anybody know?

Sorry.. I did do a search for an existing thread, but somehow I didn't find it. I'll look at that one too. Thanks for posting it.

No problem and no harm done asking. I hope I didn't come across as a jacka...err, um...a donkey.

Over ten years ago I think it was D&G that advertised a 7 or 8 foot wide rig but they didn't sell many.

Not a jackadonkey at all. I really appreciated it. I wish the search feature had boolean operators and phrase searching. It's sometimes difficult to find things.

There was an old-timer not far from here that was running a 10 x at least 20 with flat pans. Not sure if he's still syrupin' or not.

I took a tour of the Leader plant in VT last summer and they were building a 10x30 for somebody. They even welded in the hooks on the sides to lift it with a chain hoist. Pretty cool tour though. Got to see them making the tubing.

Years ago Leader used to offer what was called a Brannon style evaporator. It had two flue pans and a regular syrup pan in front.I dont know what specific sizes they were but they were pretty big.

10 X 30....how many cords of firewood do you suppose that thing would eat in an average season? My back aches just thinking about it.

The current Leader catalog lists their brand new Vortex arch. It says, "available in sizes 301x10 and larger." Larger?!

That's 30 INCHES by 10 FEET...a very common size.
