I will be using hydrometer for finishing, however I am thinking of installing a thermometer at my drawoff for reference. Last year I used candy thermometer and had a hard time reading it because of the steam.

How can I install a dial thermometer in my pan near drawoff?
How far from the drawoff?
What kind of thermometer would you recomend?
Are the leader 0-50 dial thermometers celcius?
Is there some other kind of thermometer setup that would work good as a reference?
Thanks

I was bored at work the other day and did some research for everybody.
This digital thermometer runs $70-90 in most maple catalogs:

then I purchased a Marcland compression fitting from maple hollow:
part number: EICEMCF1N $8.55

The compression fitting will fit tight on the probe and then has a 1/4"npt on the outside. I had a 1/4"npt fitting welded to the pan near the draw off valve and good to go for under $40
