I have a 2x6 oil fired rig that I'm overhauling It Is brick lined at this time. I just ordered some ceramic blanket that Is 2" thick and has a max temp rating of 2300 degrees. My question Is If I line It with the blanket do I have to put the bricks back In. I was thinking of putting several layers In for better efficiency. Any Input would be appreciated.

I would say no. The few oil fired rigs I have seen with the pans off had no bricks in them. Generally, the bricks go in the wood fired rigs to give the blanket some protection from the firewood.

If you have room for the blanket over the bricks and you have the blanket then there is no harm. You can never have to much insulation as long as it doesnt interfere with the combustion and the heat getting to all the pan surfaces.
