another black tubing question

I have a chance to get a mess of 1 1/4 160psi for .35 , but in reality it is bigger than i would need. Question, i may be using multiple sap ladders, would this benefit vacuum transfer, i assume so. is there a disadvantage to going with bigger pipe than you would ever need. would there be sap warming issues. It seems the price is good for that size, any feedback, thanks.

I wouldnt do it. You can get smaller sizes for cheaper. Also 160 psi is not fun to work with. Get 100 psi.

Also, just got a roll of 160 by mistake. When I went to use it the crimp clamps would not go on, because the ID is the same and the OD is bigger to handle the higher pressure. Doing screw clamps is harder too because the tubing is far stiffer and hard to compress with the clamp. I always used 100 before and these problems don't happen. I may set it aside to use in a long run or for my well line in the future and go get the 100 PSI I wanted. Another thing, the curvature of the 160 is harder to pull out too, at least in cold temperatures. Might not be bad if using it up in hot weather.

By the way, that is a real good price for 160, but not for maple use!!!

BUT if you can get it and you lay it out next summer in that nice dry Wisconsin heat and let it relax then it might be a nice dry line some day.
