After washing all the buckets at the end of this past season we started on the new sugarhouse. All the logs were cut from our woods and sawn on our little bandmill. We decided to timber frame it for a first time experience. Timber framing is rewarding but man does it take some time. Next building will involve a pile of 2x4's and a nail gun!! We mixed our own concrete, and chipped out every timber with a chisel. The whole project took most of the summer and fall. The only cost was $300 for the portland cement/gravel, $100 for the used roofing, $100 for the stone foundation and another $200 for fuel/misselaneous expenses, and of course lots of labor. The woodshed is almost full of almost 8 cords and we are hoping that a 6 month break will get us excited about sugaring again. I posted two pictures in our gallery. Just click on the profile to view. Best.
