I started. Phew!
Put in about a quarter of my taps this afternoon and will do the rest on Saturday.
The weather may be a bit spotty 'til Tuesday, but should cooperate nicely after that. I'll be ready.

Honestly, it feels great to finally start tapping. The anticipation has been killing me.

Funny to see the reaction from the neighbors. They were all so excited to see the buckets going up. Finally a sign that winter won't last forever....

There's some dripping but nothing worth collecting yet.
I don't expect I'll be collecting until Monday or Tuesday. Still have a few more taps to put in today...

03, the pan worked well last year once I got a system down. But my wife bought me a Mason 2x3 this year, so the pan and and barrel stove have been passed on to another enterprising sugarist (not sure that's a word).
He promised that next year he too would pass it along. The tradition continues...

Just put out 5 taps. Not drippping, yet. Tomorrow's weather looks good and then the end of the week looks great. Hoping to get all the taps in on Thursday.

My goal is to be all tapped by the end of the day Tuesday. I don't want to miss this first warming spell.
