I wish someone with some extra ambition would go around an take photos of sugarhouse's, fall color, spring tapping, winter landscape, across the US. and Canada. Then put it all together in a coffeetable book of color photos.
I need something to feed my wintertime cabin fever.
Yep selfish idea but I would love to have one.
One you young bucks that is not married and want to travel the country get on this will ya!

I'd buy one. In the mean time here is a digital version (just give it a minute for the slide show to load);

It's already been done, although the book is mostly about Vermont...It's called "Sweet Maple" and all the photos are by a guy named Paul Boisvert. We got a picture of our old roadside sign in the book- Paul came around for 2 seasons, camera in hand and would hang out for a few hours, and talk sugaring with us............The authors are James Lawrence and Rux martin and the book was published by Vt Life magazine. It might still be available from them.

Book references by wdchuck. Used ones seem reasonable

The "sweet maple" book is great. They tend to be on ebay allot, you wont be disapointed. Lots of traditional stuff in there.

Agreed and I'd buy one. Lots of times there's nothing better than just looking at pictures. I search through Google Images a lot and very often browse through just the attachments in this forum just gazing and getting ideas. I like seeing how others have built their sugarhouses, what color they are, where the sugahouse is located...there's something magical about whole sugarhouse scene. It's always uplifting and exciting.

Oh yea I can feel the tension residing a bit.
Good to see red blooded Americans and Canadians carrying on a great tradition.
Evaporators, Horses, tractors, women, children and food--don't need much more than that.
No need for borders here.
Supposed to hit 40 degrees here this week-end first time since early Nov of last year.
Great

Ok I am watching all you guys tapping and boiling--I am pawing the ground to get at it. Another month for me in this area.

Can't tell ya how I watch with interest all the great designs and all the new sugar houses going up this past year. I see I am never finished building or adding, as I keep thinking of ideas and gathering new ones from all of the photos posted here.
There certainly is a lot of creativity in the design of the many houses shown here.

I am watching with great interest the PVC bag holders that you all are working on. You are definetly on to something there!

Suppose to get to mid 40's here today--above ave for awhile.
