Has anyone ever heard that when you brick the rig that the bricks need to be dried before you fire it. That when bricks are wet than exposed to direct heat that they will break. Not talking about the refractory cement. I know that needs a day or two to dry.

Usually things crack or break with a sudden change in temperature. With a gradual rise or drop in temperature - very seldom is there a problem. Fire brick can crack in time - but - usually it is from a chunk of wood or poker giving it a sharp blow. You shouldn't have a problem. ---Mike---
