Front Hood

Should my front hood have a gutter around it ? Just had rear hood built with gutter on it. The front hood will be raised up aprox. 12" from pan. Once the hood is warmed up the dripping should lessen is this correct? Whats your opinion? Thanks

You will still get some condensation and the less that falls back into the pan, the better. I have about the same type of hood and I get run off in the gutter on the front hood. It is up in the much cooler air and it not 200+ degrees inside like the rear hood, so it will condensation on the inside walls worse per if considering same proportion of steam. My front gutter channels in the rear hood gutter so all the condensation drains off in one place.
