I put a hood on my 2x4 flue pan and I would like to add a sight gauge on the side of the pan. I found a plastic 1/2" 90 theaded on one end barbed on the other. I was thinking of putting a 5" piece of clear hose over the barbs to create the sight gauge. I don't know if plastic will hold up to the heat?
Has anyone tryed it?

If you go to a heating supply store, not a big box, you can get sight glass tubes and mounts pretty cheap usually. I looked on McMaster and Carr and they had alot of different choices that would work, many for around $20.

Bascoms sells a kit for $50. Comes with valve, bracket, and site tube. I've been thinking of adding one as well.
