I was wondering if any of you folks out there have installed lighting into your steam hoods...and if so, what makes and models have seemed to work the best for you. Any feedback is appreciated.

I bought a light fixture at Lowes that is for wet or hazardous locations. It has a glass globe that screws into the base and a metal cage that screws over that. I only have one above the syrup pan. My preheater and condensate tray in the sap pan take up too much space to allow itand would block most of the light anyway. Works great though.

Try a halogen shop light they will take the heat. If you cut out a square hole in the top and set it over the hole your good to go. Just dont spray it with cold water during clean up.

A Mason Jar with a 60 watt light bulb work very well.

I am having a tuff time seeing around the preheater into the flue pan. I drilled a hole in the side of the pan and installed a sight gauge so I know the sap level. But, I like the light idea.
