I would say that they should work fine. just have to make the hole big enough to slip over the spile. I don't think the weight of the pail should be a problem. Good luck, Mike

I used the 5/16 tubing adaptor for spiles on a 4 gallon pail. They held the weight but, they were bent down when the pails were getting full. 4 gallon max for weight on the 5/16 plastic spile.

I had used the blue 7/16 spiles with buckets in the past, I used a bucket hook just like I would with a metal spile, never tried it with a 5/16 though

If you are refering to the clear blue taps with the hook on them that is exacally what they are made for. I have used them in the past and they held fine. Actually never broke a single one unlike the cast aluminum ones, broke a few over the years taking them out.

Hey - dnap63 - Last year I bought some dark blue 7/16 tube spiles - because that is all they had at the time - so you just put a metal bucket hook on yours and hang a pail from it... and it dosen't pull out -- thanks for the information --- was thinking of trying a few on tubes - but - these plastic spiles are more adaptable then I thought --- Mike

IM referring to the blue plastic spiles with a barbed fitting for tubing.

I used the blue plastic with the hook and they worked fine. I only have about 10 buckets, Had problems with 1 slipping out of the hole on a full sap bucket. I got a little wet!!!
