tap count poll

Ill give you guys a tap count in a couple weeks becouse I really dont know what I have. Do you want purchased sap too. Like my buddys that Im just going to process all of, do you want those taps too? Theron

Whatever is fine. I know that all of those will be processed by me so we can use them if you want. Its not like hit or miss sap at the doorstep. Theron

We may be down a few hundred taps this year but it'll help our averages! When replacing taps with stubbies we culled a lot of droplines from trees that had 3 or 4 taps so they now are max 2 taps. We won't be 100% certain of our numbers until the end of tapping either because we added a number of new taps when replacing the old PVC tubing. I went with the rule of thumb that if I could see it from the mainline I was tapping it - regardless of whether it was above or below me! I figure it's better to tap it and get something than let sap stay in the tree!

I'm predicting we get 0.35 USG/tap this year. You gonna beat that Theron?

I'd say that since this is just a tally of taps per state, and not per member, then sure. Taps is taps.

Still up in the air. Trying for 900 but things don't look like it will happen this year. When I have an actual count I will submit the count.

I agree with that Pat... but I'd also say that simply "buying sap" from another producer (or whomever) does not count as taps. If you are collecting from a certain number of taps - cool, but if you are just buying X # of gallons of sap - doesn't count as "taps".

Hmmmm... just noticed that Clan "the man" and mapleman3 have not included their own count as of yet not to mention that 60 000 tap producer... of course, he's likely already out tapping. :rolleyes:

I've got at least a month here before I tap!!! When the numbers are in on check valve spouts and gravity tubing systems - I'll think about tapping in January. Until then, if I want to watch sap NOT flow, I can do that in August. :lol:
