I am looking for ideas for what i can use to plug my wse syrup pan so the sweet doesn't mix back in the flue pan when i shut down.

Won't be enough go back there to worry about. I run a 2x8 drop flue and I never block off the front pan to the rear pan at the end of a boil. Any that goes back there will come back thru quickly after startup next time.

Leader will make you a new U connection between your back pan and front. Instead of the plain U, you'll have a ball valve in the middle. A cheaper route might be a slide that fits over the hole.

I wish I had a ball valve in mine so I have SS plugs on handles BUT if you install them on both sides of the same cross over tube you cant get them apart when they cool:mad: My new one are a rubber type with big handles:)

Agree I wouldnt worry about the gradient mixing. I think by the time you got steam rising its all good again. Only time I use the plugs is when i pull the front pan to clean or switch out.

XYZ, I bought two black rubber plugs at the local hardware store. They fit the hole perfectly. I use them when I am cleaning and rotating the front pan. They come in handy.

If you are concerned about food grade, temp. specs, you can order rubber plug from McMaster Carr.

I made a few out of wood. Its natural and when its time to replace I just chuck it and make a new one.

Thanks for the ideas. Haynes i am surprised you don't use a food grade toilet bowl flapper for a plug.
