I just got some 1.5" SS milk pipe from a friend that is taking his milk house down. I plan on taking two of the 90 elbows and having them tigged onto the front and rear pans to make a 180(basicly in place of a float box). Where the two elbows meet they clamp together and there is a rubber seal between them. Will the seal hold up to the boiling sap, and if not is there a different way to seal the clamped ends together.

If you look around they make the gaskets out of different material. There are some that will take the heat of boiling sap.
You want to search for TRI-CLOVER fittings.
They make A silicone and a teflon gasket that can take the heat. I think the the teflon is the better choice but the silicone one is softer and I think will give a much better seal.
