2 vac. questions, I am running a universal massport on a 1200 tap system for the last few years, we get around 17 inches from this pump and it kicks on and turns off with a thermostat. If i plumb in our sp-11 into the zero tank also, would the 2 be fighting each other? Our idea is to let the sp-11 just run all the time throughout the season to keep the lines free and to prevent any backflush of sap to the tap holes. I seen on a old post that a sp-11 is good for around 500 taps, but im just looking for this to keep enough vac in the lines to do what i said above. even if its 12 inches. But what happens when the massport kicks in and both are running? I do have a check valve on the massport and plan on one for the sp-11 if this would work. Another question is does anyone else run a sp-11 or sp-22 from start to finish with no rest in between?

As far as running both at once I can't comment, though I remember it being discussed on here before. As to the SP22, we ran ours for 2 weeks non stop last season at 22" without a problem.

I run mine till everything freezes about 10:30 PM and restart well before thaw 7:00 AM. I dont think the check valves will solve the problem. The stronger pump will win out and the smaller pump will not get incoming air and over heat. I have run my vac pump till there was slush splatterd all over the releaser and frozen lines.

I have run my sp-11's for 10 days, 24 hours straight, minus 15 minute oil changes, no problems @19'' vacuum.

Mark, i see you do around 1400 taps, does your sp-11 handle all those at 19 inches? I seen old post that said around 500 max for that size pump.
