I will be useing an evaporator with an under grate blower for the first time. Do you allow the blower to run a while after the fire is out?

Steve, I let mine run while the fire is dying out. Once all I have is a small amount of coals, I turn it off and shut down. It only takes a few times to see how much sap you need to leave in the pans to be safe. I loose very little once the fire is actually out.

I always let me blower run while I am cleaning up. Usually 30mins and then I open the door and let it cool the rest of the way

Our Force 5 requires us to run the blower for up to an hour after the last fire. By the time I'm done washing everything up (4 tanks, RO, syrup tank, water jacketed re-heater, filter press) it's cooled down enough that the levels in the pans will not change much, if at all, by the next morning.
