At 1.4 cfm, you can't have any leaks at all or else you are just wasting your money.

You want a minimum of one cfm per one hundred taps.

Rob--I don't think that this pump will provide enough vacuum to pull what you would need to make a difference in your tubing. You should have 1 cfm for every 100 taps. This takes into account for gases given off by the trees..etc... A releaser also needs a certain amount of cfms to operate correctly. You've got to look at something a little bigger.

I sold a boat load of those pumps and they just dont have the CFMs. They are OK for closed vacuum applications like vacuum forming or Laminate setups.I would pass on it.

It looks like in the specs the CFM rating is 1.4 CFm at 0 pressure, the rating would be far lower at even a few inches of vacuum. It would be a waste of money.
There are lots of old dairy pumps out there to get started in vacuum for less than you might think. While I don't want to rain on your parade, you need to consider the releaser cost too. Can you someday get more than the 200 taps on this bush? It is hard to pay for vacuum on a small bush. It will increase your yield but is this "just a hobby", or would you like just a little pos. cash flow too?
