Plexiglass Steam Hood

I have some extra sheets of 1/4" plexiglass laying around. Would it hold up if I used it to build a steam hood? I'm concerned I'll get it built and it will deform due to the heat. I have read however that some people have used it for viewing windows in hoods and splash guards. Any advice?

If you can afford to lose the plexi...go for it..the worst that can happen is that you take it down...I built my first one out of 2x2's and 1/4 " ply....if Ilike it I'll do it in stainless...
