Am new to vacuum, I got a deleval 73 and am the middle of hooking it up and getting it wired in. I was just wondering if it was okay to go vertical with the exhaust pipe? Or would that negatively affect it's performance. I know when I removed it from the barn it was in, the pipe was run at a 45 degree angle. I am Just looking to get peak performance from it. Thanks for your help.

Up, down or sidways doesnt matter. If you dont have a reclaimer on it you will be exhausting oil mist into the air. I would exhaust away from the sap tanks to keep the mist out of the food chain. Pointing it down will keep the snow and rain out.

You might want to go up, then elbow 90 then down 45 to keep rain etc out. As said above, keep exhaust away from sap tanks nd tubing.

Rob- Last year I ran a deleval like that and I ran the exaust out and into a bucket and threw a bunch of rags over it to help keep the mist down. Seemed to work ok. This year I think I might run it into a pail or barrell and fill it full of steel wool like maplecrest suggested to avoid the mist. Theron

Mine is set up with the vent piped into a 55 gal steel drum with the lid on and a buch of vent holes drilled on the side by the cover. also put insulation in the drum. for mist pick up.

you can make a recalimer pretty easy. just take an old 5 gallon epoxy can and fill it with a heavy gauge steel wool put the exhaust on thought the top and and a return out of the bottom. witha vent on the other side. cheap easy done!!!

The reclaimer that redmaples is describing works because you want the oil air mix to slow down and condense onto the oil laden steel wool.
