I really cant tell you right now. I was in the south facing lot yesterday and was really suprised to find the ground wasnt froze up in a good portion of the lot. Theres alot of water in the ground and snow is depleating very fast. I hope it starts to freeze up soon for the next 60days or so. otherwise my prediction, well you might not want to here it..:(

I have to agree with Thad, spring is coming, and I will go out on a limb and say someone in Vermont will make syrup. I will tell you alot more about it in May.

Iam shooting for the 2nd week in Feb.to. Was reading on proctor maple reaserch were Feb. has an average of being a good yeilding month. We have been almost a week just cutting tree's and picking up pipe line.

It is going to be a crunch time to be ready.

We usually start the last weekend in Feb getting ready. But not really sure about this year we sustained almost $30,000.00 worth of damage from the Dec 1 wind storm here. The ground is not froze either which is making getting the trees out very hard. Buit we will tap what we can get too. Either Way good luck to every one this year.

I can't do anything until we get done with Valentines day and last year I made the mistake of going ice fishing the weekend after Valentines day and figured I tap the last weekend well everyone was boiling sap but me on that weekend lol.

Apprx four weeks for me, I think. should put me right around valentines day or so. All of my stuff is getting done around my sugar lots. then I go down to my grandfarthers woods and do repairs for a couple of weeks and then get ready to tap both his and mine. 1900 for him right around 600 for me

Here is my prediction: those that did not get the really late season frost will have an above average season with a little better than normal sugar content. Those that got hit with the late frost will lower sugar content and maybe an average yield. This all depends on the weather during the season of course. All bets are off if the weather is like last year. Hey, weathermen are always wrong so why can't I be?

Finished thinning in the south sugarbush last week, though there is still 6,000 BF of pine, 1000 BF of hardwood, and 30 tons of pulp to move off the landing. Hoping to put this sugarbush on line next year.

Time now to get the sugarhouse in order, replace some drops, and put in a few new lateral lines. Should be able to top 600 taps this year!

Lots of snow and it's been good and cold. I think we'll do ok this spring. Sure hoping it's a better season than last year!
