Lets see some homemade splitters.

Here are some pics of my splitter. Made from a sears garden tractor. Move the splitter to the wood, not the wood to the splitter. Can split from either side. Has a sliding tray that slides from side to side to catch the opposite piece so that you can split it again.

10hp kohler / 16gpm pump. 6"X30" cylinder.

Still need to add a lift, getting to old to lift the big ones.

Now thats my kind of build. When is it going out to chrome and powder coat:mrgreen: With that size pump and cylinder why so small on the wedge and stop. Next Bryanex will want a 4 point seat belt and windshild:lol:

:D im with you there i use a 6 and an 8 pound splitting maul. used to have a 3pt splitter, but was too small for the OWB wood. :(
i like the maul because it adds power, and i do lots of hardwood for the stove.
that sure is a cool splitter, peddler lake

Not too handy on the computer--better in the shop. I made this about 35 years ago when the big elms were dying the first time. Sure has split a lot of wood.....

The vertical piece is a 900# drop hammer. The horizontal section is a wood splitter. I also use the horizontal section as a press brake. It can handle 4" x 1/2" flat bar without heat. 4" x 1" with heat.

Here is my splitter I built last year. I have an outside boiler that eats a lot of wood, and most of the time I can't find any help. It's funny that way, when I need to cut wood there isn't anyone around. But when others need help they come a running. So I built this to make it easier on me.

I love the innovation, and creativity on the build for these splitters.
My splitter is a 1 manpowered axe, and large head maul. Most times I can keep up to a hydraulic splitter. I would have posted a picture, but I don't think anyone wants to see my ugly mug holding a maul lol!
Although, I'm a little more tired than your mechanically powered splitters at the end of the day.

Nice, I like that one. The conveyer is nice. I have the stuff to build one and run the wood right into my wood shed. Just has not made the top of the list yet. Maybe when the kids are gone, and I have to carry the wood in myself it will be time to put one together.
