i just got a couple of food grade totes 1 is a 330 gal. nice and clean no smell the other is a 275 gal. which had some hops concentrate in it, it has a bit of a hoppy smell and residue in it needs to be cleaned very well, they both came from a bud factory. my ? is how do you guys plumb them for pipe on ball valve as the threads look a bit different? i would like to hook a quick connect fitting so when i pull up to pump them i can just hook up my transfer pump to the ball valve and have it self prime the pump when i open the valve. thanks for any info

use a fernco connecter. Then you can use what ever plumbing you want from there. They carry them at all the big box stores. hope this helps. Mike

I use a fernco ( a 2" black rubber hose with a hose clamp on each end). Works great for me. I also know of guy's using regular pipe thread fittings and putting some pvc cement on the threads and threading them on. Your right the threads ara alittle different but, it will go on there.

theres a place in conway mass called oesco.. they have the actual adapters for them. made by banjo just like the quick connects. downfall is they are around 20 bucks apiece.. so if u dont mind a fernco then that would probly be cheaper

Hi,
I was just reading your postings and I use these same containers. I also found that the ferco was the best method to adap them for NPT. The containers are made in Europe and have metric threads.
In my reach again for stainless steel barrels for syrup I found a company called Mitchell Containers Services. This company handles a whole bunch of goodies for these containers including a metric to NPT adapter. They have a web site and the prices seemed reasonable. The phone # 800-729-3786.
