I am just curious if the cement for the sch 40 will leave any off flavors. That stuff just smells strong. I know they use it for water lines in homes, but was curious about using it for sap. I am hooking my releaser up and would like to use a short section of it to run through the wall of the sugar house with the threaded ends cemented on.

Once the PVC cement fully cures it will be fine.
Leave it out gas the flumes and wash out with lots of water and good to go.

I made the top and bottom of a big sap ladder out of sch. 40. I wiped it well, then air dry for several days. Never noticed anything off. If you are just doing a straight run, you could use sch. 80 and thread both ends, and eliminate any glue.

If your running high VAC I would avoid threads. They can leak under vacuum.
