Cold December

Does this seem to be a colder than average december? or is it just Me I am ahead of my normal wood quota for the woodstove by about 2 weeks!!! 14F here at the house this morning single digits here on the seacoast tomorrow and neg temps for the north country!!!

I don't know about the average, but this one so far has been a shock to the system. The last few December's have'nt been really cold and we did'nt have much snow either. Well, at least around here anyway. Folks in Buffulo might disagree, lol.

I am having a warm winter here in Alaska. Only went below zero a few times so far this winter. We have about a foot of packed snow on the ground. The kids have been running their snow machines for well over a month so they are happy. I build houses year round here in Alaska and enjoy the single digit temps because your sweat does not freeze. -30 is our cut off because our air guns start to freeze up. We run anti-freeze through the lines but still the fittings freeze. Your cold temps down in the lower 48 might help you have a better sugar season. Good luck to all of you this sugaring season.

Yes Red its is below the norm for cold here as well. News today said average temps for December here is 39 ( found that hard to believe) and we been in the 20's for a week and was low 30's prior to that. Snowfall average claim was 21 inches for december and Im at 50 right now. I noticed we are 2 weeks ahead on burnt wood as well and went out last week and cut up another 5 cord to be on the safe side.

we have no snow yet!!! maybe a little this weekend sometime but rain on sunday evening. 7 degrees this morning thats Jan temps for here.

The light dusting here gave in to the rain. One would think with the temps as cold as they have been we would be getting 8inches of snow instead of this rain. Wont be long for that im sure...

Really rainy and wicked windy I dont understand it been in the 20s the past week and now we are getting rain then were gonna be back in the 20s from tuesday on.We already had 5 inches of ice on the pond before the rain.Hopefully the ground freezes up before we get snow.

Blizzard warnings for us here in northwest Michigan. 18" of snow in 24 hours and high temps of 12* tomorrow and lows below 0*. I guess winter is here!:cry:

Temps in the teens, snow, more snow and snow all week. We are in a lake effect storm warning till 1 on thursday. Calling for up to 24 inches by days end tomarrow and additional 8 to 12 inches daily till thursday. Single digits at night. Bring it on and lets get it over with. So far snow total for december here is at 58 inches and counting I suddenly feel the need to cut more wood.

ok like I said the last 2 days mid 50's and rain after a few days of single digit nights. now this morning 28 degrees and a dusting of snow. and not suppose to break 32 in the forcast!!!

Well no snow yet here!!! been really cold haven't seen above freezing since monday!!! I think today its suppose to get to 35. Blocked from snow again!!! whats going on??? the cold air masses keep pushing things away. yesterday morning they were saying we were gonna get 6-9 inches of snow on sunday night. now nothing!!! we have a slight chance for some snow on tues/wed. and maybe snow on x-mas. but I doubt it.

wow its about 22 here and the lake effect dumps snow on us daily. although snow always saves our seasons it comes before the ground freezes up so when it comes time for maple we neeed that snow to keep the ground cool, or else we have a bad season.

Probably one of the coldest and snowiest Decembers on record here in WV. Snowed the majority of the days starting around Dec 1st.

We finally got snow!!!! 7-8 inches I guess So windy you can't tell. some spots more than others...but So #$%#$%#$ windy!!!! Goes right through you. maybe rain next weekend. that should be for a nice mess!!!
